Welcome to Brighthouse Day Camp — THE ELITE Day Camp program in Palm Beach County specifically designed for campers from Kindergarten through 8th grade! Our PHENOMENAL staff, carefully chosen for these age groups, and the age-appropriate, superior campus facilities, set the stage for success.
We group the children into bunks based on age, grade, and parent requests. Each bunk has 15 to 25 campers led by a Senior Counselor who is college-age or older, assisted by 1 or 2 Junior Counselors who are high school age, as well as LITs & Interns.

Brighthouse Day Camp campers feel great about camp because they feel good about their counselors and the specialist staff who guide them. Additionally, our outstanding and dedicated members of the Leadership Team of Directors ensure that the Brighthouse Day Camp programs are conducted and instructed professionally, using age-appropriate equipment on an unmatched campus.
The Brighthouse Day Camp program places a significant emphasis on the instruction and participation in all activities to enhance skills development, appreciation of the creative and performing arts, love for the environment, and a positive sense of respect for fellow campers and staff.
Our Brighthouse Day Camp campers join either General Camp or Sports Camp, but we are one camp.
Our Facility
Somerset Academy Canyons is our summer home and offers a brand new state-of-the-art gymnasium, Full-Size Turf Football & Soccer Field, baseball field, classrooms, outdoor basketball courts, cafeteria with FREE LUNCH & SNACK, and a great location to all the communities in the Boynton Beach/Lake Worth/Wellington area.
Somerset Academy Canyons houses over 1500 students and provides a REAL camp environment, allowing for additional space for each age group to have their own BUNKS for those super-hot and rainy days. There are plenty of indoor and covered surfaces that help to protect the staff and campers from weather elements.

General Camp Programs & Activities
With something for every interest, Brighthouse campers get to discover new passions and shine in their favorite activities. Our programs include:
- Sports & Fitness: Tennis, Archery, Fitness, Karate, Mini Golf, Fencing, and more!
- STEM & Discovery: Science, Drones, Engineering, Little Medical School.
- Creative Arts: Arts & Crafts, Photography, Cartoon Art, Plaster Time, Magic, Sewing.

SPORTS CAMP
Entering 1st Grade - 8th Grade
At Brighthouse Day Camp, our Co-Ed Sports Camp is the perfect place for young athletes to develop skills, stay active, and have FUN! Campers enjoy a balanced schedule of athletic training, recreational play, and specialty activities, ensuring a well-rounded camp experience.
Each day includes a mix of indoor and outdoor sports such as basketball, football, hockey, baseball, soccer, gaga, and volleyball. Campers also participate in specialty activities like arts & crafts, science, and computers for variety and creativity. (1st grade campers take part in more specialty activities, while older campers focus more on athletics.)
To enhance the experience, every week features a special sports clinic led by local high school or professional coaches. Clinics have included lacrosse, pickleball, golf, wrestling, and more — giving campers the chance to learn new sports, practice fundamentals, and build confidence.
Our Sports Camp provides a positive, encouraging, and professional environment where campers grow as athletes, teammates, and leaders — all while having an unforgettable summer!

SOCCER CAMP
Entering 2nd Grade - 8th Grade
Time: 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Weeks: 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7
Are you ready to score big and have a blast? Soccer Camp is the place to sharpen your skills, make new friends, and play the game you love! From fast-paced scrimmages to skill-building drills, our awesome coaches help every camper improve their technique, teamwork, and confidence—all while having a ton of fun. Whether you’re just learning the basics or already a soccer star, there’s something here for you!
And the fun doesn’t have to stop at 1:00 PM! Campers can choose to continue their day with Sports Camp for all kinds of athletic adventures or General Camp for crafts, games, and other exciting activities from 1:00 – 4:00 PM. Spend the whole day playing, learning, and making memories that last!
LIT (LEADER IN TRAINING)
Entering 9th grade
Graduating campers are invited to take the next step at Brighthouse Day Camp by joining our Leaders in Training (LIT) Program. This unique opportunity gives participants the “best of both worlds” — enjoying camp fun while beginning the transition into leadership roles with added responsibility.
With the support and guidance of our LIT Director and Brighthouse staff, campers in this program gain hands-on experience that prepares them to become future staff members at camp. The goal is to develop leadership, teamwork, and responsibility while still allowing LITs to enjoy the excitement of summer camp.
What LITs Do
- Assist counselors and upper staff in daily group activities
- Support specialty classes and help younger campers
- Learn the fundamentals of camp counseling and leadership
- Participate in leadership workshops with the LIT Coordinator
- Enjoy special privileges and freedoms within the camp structure
Please Note: LITs will be placed in different groups throughout the summer and not assigned with their friends. This is intentional, as it allows them to focus on their responsibilities, adapt to new situations, and gain confidence working with a variety of campers and staff.
Not “All Work and No Play”
The LIT experience balances responsibility with plenty of FUN! LITs participate in their own recreational activities, enjoy exclusive field trips, and build friendships within their group — making this both a rewarding and unforgettable summer.
The LIT Program is the first step toward becoming a Brighthouse counselor, offering leadership training, personal growth, and a summer full of memories.
LIT Schedule
LITs will shadow Senior and Junior Counselors in a bunk during the daily activities of the day. Every Monday, the CITs will have a morning meeting with the LIT director. The purpose of these meetings may vary but are essential to the structure of the LIT program in promoting the exchange of ideas and learning amongst the LITs. Guest counselors and directors will attend certain meetings to share their ideas and expectations and/or offer specific guidance on topics or situations as they may arise.
Trips
Some of these trips are recreational, i.e. Dave & Buster’s, Silverball Arcade, and Rapids Water Park; and some are community service oriented; i.e. visiting a local nursing home, or helping out at the Soup Kitchen. The aim of these trips is to provide the LITs with something special that regular campers don’t receive, as well as providing a well-rounded and enriched LIT experience. On trip days, LITs will be required to wear their LIT t-shirts and abide by the Brighthouse Day Camp LIT code of conduct. All trips are at no additional cost to the parent. A LIT trip schedule will be sent to parents at the beginning of the camp season.
LIT’s will be given the opportunity to earn community service hours by participating in this program.
Brighthouse Day Camp LIT program will be a one-of-a-kind, transitional experience that cannot be found at any other day camp. The unique blend of on-campus training in addition to daily LIT activities, off-campus trips and activities will be an unforgettable experience.
INTERN PROGRAM
Entering 10th grade
At Brighthouse Day Camp, we believe that when a camper enters 10th grade, they are ready to take their first steps into leadership by learning how to care for others — our most prized possession, your child.
The Intern Program provides young teens the opportunity to develop leadership potential by working with younger campers under the close supervision of Senior & Junior Counselors, Unit Heads, and the Camp Director.
What Interns Do
- Assist their assigned group with daily camp activities, meals, and special events
- Act as apprentices, learning the skills needed to become future counselors
- Help organize materials and supplies, while serving as positive role models
- Build leadership skills by assisting with projects, sports techniques, and creative activities
- Participate in weekly leadership workshops with their Unit Head
Interns are placed in camper divisions based on age, ability, and experience. They will also be asked to share two placement preferences (age group and either Sports or General Camp) during orientation.
Placement Note:
- Interns registered for 6 weeks or more will remain with the same group throughout the summer for consistency.
- Friends will not be placed together, ensuring Interns focus on their responsibilities and leadership growth.
Program Goals
The primary goals of the Intern Program are to help participants:
- Recognize themselves as leaders, teachers, and role models
- Learn what it takes to make camp unforgettable for younger campers
- Build initiative, creativity, and problem-solving skills
- Gain valuable experience while earning community service hours

- Show initiative, enthusiasm, and creativity
- Display strong character and a willingness to work hard
Through this experience, Interns grow as leaders while still enjoying the fun and energy of summer camp — preparing them to become the next generation of Brighthouse counselors.
The INTERN program offers teens the opportunity to develop leadership and program skills that will hopefully lead to a counselor position in the future.
Brighthouse Day Camp does not guarantee a "junior counselor" position will be available next year for all Interns. Because we employ the finest staff, our most PHENONMENAL Interns may be considered to interview.
