COLOR WAR
For many campers, Color War is the highlight of the summer — the most exciting and anticipated event of the season!
The week kicks off in Week 8 with a thrilling “Breakout” — a surprise event that can happen at any time. Campers know it’s here the moment something unexpected and extraordinary happens.
Immediately following Breakout, the Official Team Names and Team Generals are revealed. Every camper is placed on a team — BLACK or ORANGE — and the stage is set for four unforgettable days of fun, spirit, and competition.
Color War spreads across every corner of camp with 50+ activities including sports, games, creative challenges, and special events.
While the energy is high and the competition fierce, two values always lead the way:

At Brighthouse Day Camp, Color War is about more than winning — it’s about coming together as one camp family, learning to support each other, and building lasting memories of teamwork, spirit, and fun.
The Brighthouse Day Camp “Phenomenal Group of the Week” Championship Belt
From the very first day of camp, Morning Flagpole sets the tone for fun, energy, and spirit. Each week, camp groups compete for the ultimate honor — the Brighthouse Day Camp “Phenomenal Group of the Week” Championship Belt!
Throughout the week, campers bring their best effort by:
- Cheering louder than anyone else
- Showing the most spirit with creative signs and chants
- Demonstrating teamwork, respect, and camp pride
The winning group earns the right to proudly hold “THE BELT” all week long and celebrate with a special Pizza Party on Friday.
By the end of the week, one chant always echoes across camp:
“WE WANT THE BELT! WE WANT THE BELT!”
BIRTHDAYS
At Morning Flagpole, we like to end on a high note by celebrating campers with birthdays that day. Near the close of Flagpole, the entire camp joins together to give the birthday camper a giant “Happy Birthday!” cheer.
When a camper is celebrating their big day, the entire camp comes together to make it unforgettable. The birthday camper takes center stage as the crowd cheers and sings a giant “Happy Birthday!”
To top it off, the birthday camper gets to “Skip Around the Room” while the whole camp claps, chants, and celebrates with them. It’s our way of making sure every camper feels extra special on their birthday at Brighthouse Day Camp!
